welcome to ~frighteners!
~frighteners is a supernatural game set in present day london. we invite all species and deities to join us. our focus is on character development through plot and interaction. all you have to do to apply is make sure you've read the rules and the information for your chosen species. simple biographies required after two weeks. we will have plenty of social and writing based activities to help you integrate into the game!.

The general rp rules apply here: don't cause ooc drama, no godmodding, PBs must be over 18. Characters must also be at least 18 years old.

We welcome any supernatural being as long as there is a reference point to their existance. That said in order to prevent accidental godmodding, no deity or species may be more overpowering than the others (everyone has their weaknesses). this means gods, angels & demons live in a mortal host or vessel and are weakened in human form. They themselves may be immortal, but their hosts are not They will age and they can get hurt or sick.

Characters can be played by any gender the player chooses unless otherwise noted (i.e. succubi are female, incubi are male).

Some characters are good, some characters are evil. This is the way of life. Please don't take a character's nature personally. That being said, it is never acceptable to excuse blatant bullying ooc by your character "simply being a jerk". If there are any issues, please bring it to the mods attention so we can help rectify the situation!
joining
We are currently not accepting challenges or overrides.

Usernames can be ic or ooc, but should not have underscores or excessive additional letters or numbers. Please provide a backdated ic post and a backdated ooc with comments screened and the basics for your character (name, host/pseudo name if applicable, species, age, a sentence or two minimum on their background or current situation).

You will have two weeks from the date you're added into the community to produce a more detailed bio that includes their background, personality, strengths & weaknesses. It can be dropped off in the member's post. Failure to do so will be grounds for removal. This is to show you have an understanding of the character and their limitations. We will talk to you privately if there is anything outlandish.

We have a database for many available roles, as well as species specific rules listed on each page. We encourage you to look through them and expect you to understand and abide by the limitations set for each species. This is to promote fairness in an environment where these characters would otherwise be overpowering.

If there is one not listed that you are interested in or you would like to play a species in another way, please contact the mods with your desired role and source. We are more than happy to work with you so that you can write a character that you're invested in and enjoy playing.

For examples, we ask that you provide 2 scenes/threads and 2 narrative or in character posts.
activity requirements
We have two update requirements.

We ask that you make at least one post a month in either your character's journal or the catch-all comm ~ethereals. This can be a social post, lyrics, question, or narrative

For the second requirement, we ask that you partake in one of the monthly community wide events (listed below). There will be at least two a month. Either hosted by the mods or another member. Interacting in a scene or plot post does count, and we do encourage open scenes/threads, but it is not mandatory to make them viewable to the community.

When you first come into the game, please make an intro post in ~ethereals within 72 hours. This will count towards one part of your first month's activity.

Please drop off your activity in the member's only post with your PB name in the subject. Removals will be done on the last day of every month, or on Sundays as needed.

Please let us know if you need a hiatus. We understand the real life gets busy and sometimes you need a break. Just dropbox the mod journal. If you want to change your PB, please ask the mods before hand.

The current character limit is 3. A 4th character may be considered at the discretion of the mods. Please consider your availablity and current activity before taking on multiple characters.

There will be plenty of opportunity for community interaction through out each month. These activities will include but are not limited to:

Random series of events (will either be a community thread or community plot post based on the type of event)
Character specific random event
Prompts
Pairing up characters for custom exchanges or random scene/thread
AMA posts (no anonymous AMA posts may be posted to keep things peaceful)

Fae Fire Festivals (the fae courts will host events for the sabbat holidays)
