General Notes On This List
this list is no means the be all end all of what we'll accept into ~frighteners. this is just a guide to help you find a character you might like to play and give you a basic run down or starting point. we highly encourage that once you've selected a character, that you spend some time researching, either within this list or on the internet, the ins and outs of what you'll be playing. if you have an idea for something that isn't here, just let us know what it is and we can get it added to the list.

if there is something on the list that you don't agree with, or if there is a different angle you'd like to take with a species, just let us know! we will work with you to find a way to make it fit. we want you to be able to have characters you enjoy playing that are different from the usual slice of life, or even the usual/common supernatural.
Gods
regardless of which culture they come from, a character that is a deity will be in a vessel or host while on this earth. this means that they are still subject to the physical laws of nature of their host, including mortality (it wouldn't kill the god, only the host). they will still have their abilities, but the power within those abilities will be weakened. even though you're playing a god, you cannot godmod someone else's character. if you have a plot idea that you'd like to play out, ask permission from the other play first and discuss it with them.
Angels & Demons
as with deities, there is a limit to how much power angels and demons have while on the earth. their vessels and hosts too can get injured, sick or die. angels need to get permission from a vessel in order to inhabit them. demons usually make deals or possess individuals. angels can communicate with each other telepathically. ordinary demons cannot, but princes of hell can, as they are fallen angels and share seraphim blood.
Fae
if you have an unusual species, skim through the fae list to see if they fall under either seelie or unseelie fae. if they do, then they are bound to the rules of their side. The only exception being fae that can fall into either seelie or unseelie, then you get to choose which side they're on. Unseelie fae are not bound to the court and are more often than not solitary fae. They come and go as they please, though generally still follow the same moral code. Seelie fae will always report to the fae courts and must uphold the seelie moral code or risk being excommunicated and vulnerable to both the fairy rade and the slua si, with no protection from the court (you can play your fae in this position, if you choose).
Witches
this list is categorized in two different sections to help anyone with a witch get some more backstory into their character's witchcraft. it's separated into witch types and the different cultures. you can mix and match as approperiate to your kind of witch. you don't have to be just one type, or if you pick a witch from culture, you can still be any of the types as it fits. it's more a guide than an end all be all. all we ask is that when picking from the different cultures and forms of witchcraft you research into the culture.
